The idea for the Darkness Chosen series occurred while watching one of my favorite movies of all time, Fiddler on the Roof, and reading paranormal romance. At that moment, something happened… it’s vague, but I remember a blinding flash of light, the two concepts meshed, and I had a four-book series about a family of Russian immigrants, three sons and a daughter, who are chosen to break the pact their ancestor made with the devil—the pact that gave them the power to shapeshift into beasts of prey.
I wrote the first two books, Scent of Darkness and Touch of Darkness, in a fever of excitement, falling a little in love with my heroes, Jasha and Rurik.
Yet I knew my favorite would be Adrik. He was the third son, the boy who loved to change into a sleek black panther and roam the woods, the one who disappeared at seventeen and was reported dead.
